Love According to Wikipedia, Love is â€Å" a variety of different feelings, states and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection to pleasure. [1] For instance, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of love? Most people think of a lover, a bond between a mother and her child, a soldier’s love of his country or a person’s simple love of an object, each kind of love is different. According to the ancient Greeks [3], there are seven kinds of love, each applicable to different scenarios. However, the concept of love has different values based on the relationship. In other words, what one person may value, as love may not be the case for another person and vice versa. Love is â€Å"an intense feeling of deep affection.† However, in reality, how do you know when you love something? The concept of love is so much more complex as it is something that cannot be explained, but experienced. The emotions tied to this experience make love differ ent for each person. After close examination of the six books, it is clear that different kinds of love are in play, so in this essay we will observe how the values of love in modern day American society has undergone drastic changes from not only the concepts of familial love, but also newer forms of materialistic love.
